Biography

Nurlan Baibazarov has worked in financial agencies and banks and led development institutions. He began his career at the Ministry of Finance in 1997 and later worked at the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and the Ministry of National Economy.

He chaired the Industrial Development Fund’s Management Board in 2016–2022. He subsequently led the Development Bank of Kazakhstan and the Baiterek holding.

From February to December 2024, he was Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy. In 2025, he served as an economic adviser to the Prime Minister before heading the Investment and Trade Department of the Presidential Administration.

He was appointed Assistant to the President of Kazakhstan on economic affairs on 25 March 2026. He graduated from the Kazakh State Academy of Management in banking and holds an Executive MBA.
