Born in Almaty on 7 November 1978.

Biography

Magzum Mirzagaliyev has worked in oilfield services and led Kazakhstan’s energy agencies. In 2001, he was a drilling fluids engineer for MI Drilling Fluids International at Tengiz.

He later worked in business development and headed the company’s Kazakhstan branch. He led TenizService in 2007–2010 before taking senior posts at KazMunayGas.

His government posts included Deputy Minister of Oil and Gas, Deputy Minister of Energy, Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources, and Minister of Energy. He chaired KazMunayGas’s Management Board in 2022–2024 and the KAZENERGY association in 2023–2025.

He was appointed an adviser to the President of Kazakhstan on 13 February 2025. He speaks English and Turkish.
